Veteran Essay

When is the right time to honor our military heroes? Everyday, soldiers sacrifice their lives for us, when we’re enjoying our free time they are creating a safe environment for us.

Everyday, people are fighting for our country, living tough lives, as we live our simple lives. Right now people are trying to protect our country, our lives. If we didn’t have them our world would be a dystopia vision. Every single military solider, or any one who is fighting for our country, makes a difference.

A famous military hero who served for many years was George S. Patton. George went to many schools before his training but graduated one year behind because of a learning disability, most likely dyslexia. A battle in Mexico was Patton’s first assignment. George was tremendously helpful in the vehicle area. In World War І Patton trained and was part of the Tanks area Patton received a wound in his leg that earned him a Distinguished Service Cross for bravery. When World War ІІ came around George commanded in the Desert Training Center on the borders between Arizona and California as a major general. Later Patton assisted the US in landings in North Africa and in the battle of Sicily. George was a lieutenant general, and visited and treated wounded soldiers when he stumbled upon two unwounded men who had been suffering “battle fatigue” and were seeking treatment, George slapped them and called them cowards, this event lead to little participation in the next battles. One year later George helped in the planning of the Normandy attack, because of his slapping event he could only plan not attack. The attack plan worked he regained his job as field commander of the third army, Patton led his army into many more battles but Patton was injured in a car accident when he was sixty and died soon after.

Every day we should honor our military heroes, they are the ones who protect us and our families. All soldiers are important and put forth the effort needed to help our country. Sacrificing lives, living tough so we don’t have to, those are things a soldier does. Soldiers are great people and every day America should say thanks.
